Strange to think the new version has a change of character name.Learnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01079982162403911449noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-872511076454850581.post-90427662981730342782008-08-06T04:40:00.000-07:002008-08-06T04:40:00.000-07:00nice post Westie. As writers, if that's what we are, we cannot afford to ask these questions, the hard questions or the censorship questions. We should write and worry about all that stuff later. We have too little time to write as it is.the ink-stained toe-pokerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08223704916998468741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-872511076454850581.post-11590955319676091902008-08-04T21:58:00.000-07:002008-08-04T21:58:00.000-07:00Self censorship is something every creative writer...Self censorship is something every creative writer deals with. Questions like "how will my family interpet my work" or "what if this work upsets a whole group of people who I admire"?

I am reading Henry Miller's "Tropic of Cancer" right now (its one of the 1001 books you need to read before you die that I have referred to in other comments).

Henry manages to offend nearly everyone, including himself in this amazing piece of literature that was written in 1932 and banned for about 3 decades in the UK and US.

In the end, this is why writing is such a personal and intimate affair. Each word reveals another secret about ourselves. The great artists are able to overcome self censoring and by doing so often reveal a more vibrant and authentic work.Gustavhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14007035018960992565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-872511076454850581.post-20444377956427927802008-08-03T15:45:00.000-07:002008-08-03T15:45:00.000-07:00Hey Paula, You've inspired to find a copy and read...Hey Paula,
You've inspired to find a copy and read it...Keep up the good posts!Danielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10791345261414786802noreply@blogger.com
